A large and diverse number of sets are chosen to allow instrumentalists to start performing the sets of tunes straight away. The suggested sets are only meant as examples and should be changed if preferred. For Button Box players the book provides Chords placed beneath the Music Notation, but there are also separately added Chord Arrangements, which may make it easier on the eyes for Guitar, Bouzouki or Cittern players, i.e. a page of Chord Arrangements follows the Music Notation.
While it is custom to play each tune at least twice or rather three times, most tunes are played once only because of the sheer volume of tunes. However, a few tunes are performed twice or three times. Another few are presented with bodhran accompaniment. The single reel Flowers Of Red Hill isplayed three times because of its variations. Each tune in the set Sporting Paddy – Man Of The House (single reels) is repeated three times as well. The reel The Mason’s Apron is played with four variations. Chord Arrangements were meticulously vetted for accuracy.
